Hardtop

A rigid roof over the flybridge or cockpit.

A hardtop is a fixed composite roof over the upper helm and seating, often with an opening section, and it replaces the bimini on most modern flybridge and sports yachts. It gives permanent shade, carries lights, speakers and sometimes solar panels, and makes the flybridge usable in weather a canvas top would not survive. On an older yacht it is often a later addition.
