Stern Thrusters

A transverse propeller in the stern.

A stern thruster pairs with a bow thruster so a yacht can be walked sideways onto a berth, and with a joystick control the two make close-quarters handling of a large boat a one-person job. It is rarer than a bow thruster because a yacht with twin engines can already swing its stern, and it is most common on single-engined boats and on yachts above 24 metres.
